10 New Twin Cities Restaurants In 2022

We love to explore our home in the Twin Cities area, especially checking out new restaurants!

Below are a few of the favorite restaurants we can’t wait to visit (if we haven’t already) :

  1.  Toma Mojo Grill; 12977 Ridgedale Dr, Minnetonka Chefs formerly of Linden Hills bistro Tilia, have opened a new Spanish & Portugueses fast-casual restaurant in a Minnetonka strip mall.  The menu is influenced by the Mediterranean, featuring items like hummus & salad bowls, piri-piri chicken, & Portuguese pork sausage. https://www.tomamojogrill.com/

  2. Mr Paul’s Supper Club; 3917 Market St, Edina.  Expect a Cajun inspired lineup of steaks, chops, soups, seafood & homemade beignets.  Chef Tommy Begnaud is inspired by the flavors of New Orleans & loves classics like oysters, crawfish gratin, boudin balls, crawfish etouffe & more. http://rb.gy/tsw2ug

  3. AMA Sushi; 5033 France Ave S, MPLS.  Tibetan & Japanese cuisine.  The sister locations to Momo Sushi, offers Tibetan momos (steamed dumplings) and unusual rolls like Lungta, which is a colorful roll of spicy salmon, tuna, yellowtail, avocado & tobiko.  https://www.amasushimn.com/Home

  4. Khaluna; 4000 Lundale Ave S, MPLS.  An homage to Laotian & Southeast Asian cooking.  Try the mieng paa - a small plate made with puffed rice, banana blossoms, & peanuts - the duck laab, or the whole fried red snapper with mango tamarind slaw.  The bar menu offers cocktails mixed with passionfruit, persimmon, & lime. https://khaluna.com/

  5.  Iconos Gastro Cantina; 2937 Lyndale Ave S, MPLS.  The former site of Lyndale Taphouse is now a fantastic selection of Latin American dishes.  Some of the favorite choices are chimichangas, birria tacos, ceviches, & Chamoy-glazed chuleta.  The bar has a long list of margaritas as well.  https://www.iconosgastrocantina.com/

  6. Union Hmong Kitchen; 20 N 4th, MPLS.  Located in the North Loop’s Graze Provisions + Libations food hall.  Expect to find chili-glazed barbecue pork, Hmong sausage, or ginger & lemongrass chicken. https://unionkitchenmn.com/

  7. Ties Lounge & Rooftop; 921 Nicollet Mall, MPLS.  The recent social isolation & unrest has encouraged Ties owners to create a place that is a “welcoming, inclusive social experience” and help revitalize Minneapolis.  Ties is not just a night club - they also incorporate various local foods, art showings, & diverse groups.  Right now you can enjoy Joey Meatballs & Nothing Bundt Cakes.  On the rooftop, you can enjoy OG Zaza Pizza. https://www.tieslounge.com/

  8. Mother Dough Bakery; 1st Floor, Fireside Lounge, 225 S 6th St, MPLS.  Located at Capella Tower.  Look for baguette, challah & brioche sandwiches, plus Danish pastries, croissants & eclairs.  The ground level counter serves beer & wine.  Chef David Fhima uses his great-grandmother’s 130-yr-old starter dough, which was brought from Casablanca, Morocco to the Twin Cities…Get it, “Mother Dough”?!

  9. Owamni; 420 S First St, MPLS.  Chef Sean Sherman (of the James Beard Award-winning cookbook The Sioux Chef’s Ingidenous Kitchen) was named a James Beard semifinalist in 2 categories this year - best new restaurant & best chef, midwest.  The kitchen has no flour, dairy or refined sugars, as well as no beef, chicken, & pork products.  Instead, expect foods that were here in this country long before settlers arrived, like venison tartare, whole duck pate with red cedar berries, & bison tripe & tail.  Make your reservations in advance.  This place often books up at leasts a month in advance.  https://owamni.com/
